The Data and Research Center is an independent organization providing bespoke data and research services for investigative teams.

At the Data and Research Center (DARC), we deliver expert-driven, flexible research and data solutions tailored to your investigative needs. Powered by Aleph, our versatile open-source search tool, we ensure fast, efficient, and precise investigations, giving you the reliability of an in-house team with the flexibility of an on-demand service.

Who is DARC?

Our team has decades of combined experience in investigative journalism and developing research tools and software. Our founders Karina Shedrofsky, Jan Strozyk and Simon Wörpel have worked on multiple award-winning, cross-border, cross-newsroom investigations with Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project and CORRECTIV. With our core team and trusted network of collaborators, we can easily scale to meet the demands of any project.

DARC will launch in April, 2025. For now, have a look at our predecessor investigativedata.io originally founded by Simon, as we are continuing their work (and add up a lot more).
