Introducing DARC: The Future of Investigative Research and Data Solutions

Published at 3/31/2025, 12:00:00 PM

Meet the Data and Research Center (DARC), a new organization providing flexible, expert-driven research and data solutions for investigative journalists, NGOs, civil society organizations, and select corporate clients. Evolving from investigativedata.io, founded by Simon Wörpel, DARC brings together a strengthened team, including Karina Shedrofsky and Jan Strozyk (formerly OCCRP’s Head of Research and Chief Data Editor, respectively), to offer broader support for investigative projects.

We're also starting to publicly work on our own version of the open source document search engine Aleph, under the name OpenAleph. Read here to learn why and what we have planned for it in the future. Alex Ștefănescu (tech activist and former OCCRP Aleph developer) will be joining us to develop new features, build compatible products, and support ongoing maintenance.

From asset tracking and corporate investigations to data management and hands-on training, DARC provides the expertise and tools needed for complex investigations with speed and precision, delivering the reliability of an in-house team with the convenience of a monthly subscription.
