About

The birth of OpenAleph

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) has been developing Aleph for over a decade, as an open source project. This project has received contribution from both OCCRP staff and independent open source developers. The OCCRP maintains a live instance of Aleph, with public datasets.

OpenAleph is a fork of the original repository. The Data and Research Center (DARC) intends to build on the existing methodology and expand the feature set. The source code will remain open source, and DARC is committed to the spirit of open and transparent collaboration.

Both projects use the same data schema, which allows seamless data migration between them.

We love hearing from you!

Have you found a bug in OpenAleph? Open an Issue in the repository, or get in touch with us at hi@dataresearchcenter.org. If you want to get involved, fork the repo and send us a pull request.

Connect with the community

The OCCRP maintains a Discourse project where Aleph users can ask questions or develop solutions to difficult problems together. Make sure to note whether your questions are about OpenAleph, the open source software developed and maintained by DARC.

Support the development

Development of open source software, especially long-term maintenance, comes at cost. We are looking for sponsors and are happy that these organizations have already commited to support us with their resources, technology and advice:

If you want to support the long-term development of OpenAleph and ensure the openness and availability of this great software, please get in touch!
